HIST 203 American Military History: Books

Tips For Searching The Catalog

When searching the library catalog, the default search option is "Keyword (Google Style)", which is a good place to start.  You may have the name of a significant historical figure, event, or place in mind... such as "War of 1812" or "Fort McHenry." Be sure to use quotation marks around phrases, like the ones listed above.

You may also the "Browse" function in the catalog and search by "Subject," e.g., "War of 1812".  From here you can use the links to narrow your search. Please be aware that when you perform a Browse search you are also searching Harford County Public Library's holdings. If you find a book that you like, be sure to see which library owns it.

If you ever have any problems or need advice in choosing effective subject terms and/or keywords, our Reference Librarians are always available to help!
