Search Tips

The Basic Search function on most databases is a keyword search. Remember, you can link multiple keywords using these connector terms: AND, OR, NOT.
It is also helpful to put exact phrases in quotes, for example: "Civil War", "Great Depression", or "Industrial Revolution". You can do so with people's first and last names, for example "Abraham Lincoln".
Feel free to try a subject search as well! Most databases provide a searchable subject thesaurus or directory of subject terms.
