Service-learning (as defined by Campus Compact) “incorporates community work into the curriculum, giving students real-world learning experiences that enhance their academic learning while providing a tangible benefit for the community." It connects service and volunteering directly with active and experiential learning, benefiting students, educators, and community partners. It can take many forms, from directly working with others to indirectly working and advocating on their behalf.
