Cameroon: Home

Welcome!

Cameroon is a country on the western coast of Central Africa and home to over 27 million people. It has a diverse terrain including coastal plains, plateaus and mountains with most of the population living in the western and northern areas. Cameroon gained their independence in 1960 and while general stability has enabled some infrastructure development, the country faces many health, social and economic challenges resulting from socio-political forces, corruption and environmental issues.

In this Subject Guide, you will find links to information on Cameroon, its people, and culture. It is not meant to be exhaustive, but is here to give you an idea of the history and current conditions of the country.

The HCC Diversity, Inclusion, Culture, and Equity Committee has focused on Cameroon as a country of interest for the 2021-2022 academic year. HCC librarians are happy to help locate more resources.
